Revelle Group Sponsor of the ARE Awards 2017 in Lisbon

Revelle Group was a proud sponsor of this year’s Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) Awards for innovative energy access projects in developing countries. Emily Koulouvaris, Revelle Group’s Managing Director gave a speech during the awards ceremony, which took place at the evening reception of the ARE Energy Access Investment Summit in Lisbon (Portugal) on 22 March 2017.

Emily’s presentation was an ode to the entrepreneurs in the audience who are helping to push forward energy access in developing countries in these challenging times and she focussed on the importance of hope, dream and innovation.

The world is currently going through difficult times, perhaps more than at any time in our history. In this critical context, entrepreneurs have a key role to play.  They must keep the dream alive. Actions should inspire to dream more, learn more and let creativity happen.

Entrepreneurs are innovators by nature. By adapting to the current needs and creating own solutions, they help countries in changing with the times and producing new products and services and in doing business in different and more successful ways.

Dreaming fosters innovation and innovation will help us, as it has done in the past, to become successful in all our endeavours.

The ARE awards were granted to the most effective and innovative initiative/project in the field of energy access under different award categories and gave recognition to companies and organisations which have made special contributions to advance the rural electrification sector.   The winners of this year’s awards were:

  • GIZ (Multilateral / International Organisations)
  • Kopernik (NGOs and Foundations)
  • Daily Life Renewable Energy Pte Ltd (Private Sector in Developed Countries)
  • Solarkiosk AG (Private Sector in Developing Countries)
  • Tanzania (Government in Developing Country) and
