At the Euro-Mediterranean Energy Conference of Athens held on May 2003, Israel, the Palestinian Authority and the European Commission decided to strengthen their cooperation in the energy sector. A Technical Working Group was then established, with a view in identifying and promoting interconnection projects of common interest to be integrated into the framework of the Euro Mediterranean cooperation process. The purpose of this project was to provide technical and logistics support to the operation of the trilateral Working Group
