The general objective of this project was to promote freedom of expression and opinion in Belarus and to enhance knowledge among the Belarusian population about democracy, pluralism, the rule of law, freedom of the media and human rights. The specific objective of the project was to guarantee the access of the Belarusian population to a range of independent, balanced and reliable sources of information in Belarus. The project consisted in supporting and strengthening the activities of the existing independent media inside Belarus and raising awareness of the potential benefits of the European Neighborhood Policy for Belarus
EIR helped to:
(1) Develop an audio-visual library in three languages (English, Belarussian and Russian) which contained amongst others, material on successful EU funded projects in Belarus, EU-Belarus relations and interviews with key actors in the EU and Belarus governments
(2) Create a user-friendly website to host the on-line version of the audio-visual library.
