The objective of the project was to provide support to the Government of Kazakhstan in its initiative on diversification of Kazakhstan’s economy through cluster development in non-extracting sectors. For this project, support was provided for the development of the oil and gas machinery industry in Kazakhstan by helping to: a) determine the list of technical regulations which are required for the proper development of the oil and gas machinery industry, b) give recommendations on legislation of relevant international standards in Kazakhstan, c) give recommendations on establishing contacts with certification organisations in Europe, d) assist in organising the training of authorised Kazakhstan’s inspectors in ASME and API standards, e) make recommendations on the increase of local supplies (local content) to oil operators for a medium-term period.
