Improving information to the Croatian business community

The purpose of this project was to strengthen the capacity for policy makers and business organizations to identify, analyse and communicate future impact of key regulatory areas for business in Croatia and to improve the awareness of the business community regarding these key areas.
The project concentrated its activities on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which make up about 99% of all businesses in Croatia. It covered legislative changes in eight key areas:
1. Consumer protection.
2. Environmental protection.
3. Standards for agriculture products.
4. Standards for industrial products.
5. Public procurement.
6. State aid.
7. Competition policy.
8. Intellectual property rights.
EIR was responsible for the communication component of the project in communicating the legislative changes to SMEs and also in providing training in one of the eight key areas, namely environmental protection. More specifically, this included:
(1) Communication & awareness to the business community
- Prepared an awareness raising strategy and implemented an awareness raising campaign
- Developed public-private dialogues
- Provided training in communication skills for information officers from the project beneficiary
(2) Training in the eight legislative areas - Environmental Protection
· Prepared and delivered a one day training course tailored to the needs of the business associations
· Prepared a mini-guide with key stakeholders customized to the needs of SMEs
· Prepared training materials
