Follow-up Public Awareness Campaign to Prevent Abandonment and

Date: 2002-2003
Type:
Location: Romania

The project is a follow-up to the previous project Public Awareness Campaign to Prevent Abandonment of Children in Romania. The overall objective was to reduce the number of abandoned children and the number of institutionalised children through alternative community integrated services (as alternative to the childcare institutions) created at a local level, as well as through informing parents about these services. The project continued with the development and implementation of a public awareness campaign that focused on communicating:
(1) The importance of a child being brought up in a family environment
(2) The existence of alternative opportunities and services to help families take care of their children
(3) The importance of domestic adoption
