Education Campaign on Child’s Rights

The project involved the design, implementation and monitoring of a public awareness campaign targeted to parents and children as well as a nationwide training programme for professional groups on children’s rights. The project aimed at preventing the separation of children at risk from their families and to support maintaining them with their families by: a) empowering the families and parents in Romania through information on their responsibilities which arise from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the European Human Rights Convention, b) training professional groups whose activities are related to children or may have an impact on their lives (social workers, teachers, lawyers, judges, doctors, priests, law enforcement).
EIR provided the Team Leader to the project who was responsible for the entire implementation of the project as well as for the design and implementation of the awareness campaign adressing parents and children in Romania. This involved:
(1) Design, printing and dissemination of promotional material on the rights of the child
(2) Mass media campaign consisting of 30 outdoor material, 3 TV & 3 radio spots, 8 TV shows and 20 radio shows
(3) Organisation of special events including Summer School and Winter School for students on child’s rights and Children’s Talent Competition
(4) Organisation of 8 media workshops in different regions of Romania
(5) Re-design and updating of the web site for the National Authority for the Protection of Child’s Rights
(6) Special TV documentary produced for and broadcast on BBC World
(7) Development of methodology for the organization of Parents Schools in Romania based on European best practices
