Communication strategies for the EU Water Initiative (EUWI) and the EU Energy Initiative (EUEI)

The EU Water Initiative (EUWI) and the EU Energy Initiative for Poverty Eradication and Sustainable Development (EUEI) were launched at the 2002 Johannesburg World Summit for Sustainable Development (WSSD) as a joint commitment by the EU Member States and the European Commission to give priority to the important role of water/sanitation and energy in poverty reduction and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). The global objective of the assignment was to support the EUWI and EUEI Secretariats and the EUWI regional working groups in implementing information and communication strategies and plans for each Initiative and to improve internal communication and external visibility
EIR was responsible for the communication component for EUEI which involved the following:
(1) Prepared the EUEI Information & Communication Strategy
(2) Developed a programme for the implementation of the Information & Communication Strategy
(3) Elaborated specific communication tools as per the Information & Communication Strategy
