A strategy and business plan for the Bulgaria Foreign Investment Agency (BFIA) & technical assistance for the Investment Forum Management

Date: 1998-1999
Type:
Location: Bulgaria

The project aimed to boost the level of foreign direct investment into Bulgaria by assisting the Bulgarian Foreign Investment Agency (BFIA) in two key areas. The first was to prepare a targeted strategy for the attraction of foreign direct investment. This involved a critical analysis of sector opportunities for inward investment, determination of the priority sectors for concentration of BFIA’s activity, determination of the key source markets for the selected sectors and the timetable for investment. The strategy was subsequently converted into a detailed one-year business plan for BFIA specifying the required organizational structure and activities necessary to achieve the strategy’s objective.

The second was to provide immediate technical support in the organization of the Bulgarian Foreign Investment Forum.
The Forum was attended by 1000 high-level participants which included key decision-makers in multinational companies, top professionals in the banking and finance sectors as well key political figures including the Prime Minister of Bulgaria
