Revelle Group at the Myanmar Green Energy Summit

The Myanmar Green Energy Summit  is the annual flagship event for this frontier market for renewable energy power development in South East Asia. Revelle Group participated in this year’s edition to develop its activities in the country.

Katarina Uherova Hasbani, Revelle Group’s Business Development responsible for Asia and Board Member of the Alliance for Rural Electrification was one of the speakers at the event. Katarina’s presentation was on the topic of « Productive Use of Renewable Energy : Approaches for Myanmar » under  the session « ELECTRIFY REMOTE AND RURAL AREAS FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH ».

With the help of global international financial institutions, the Government of Myanmar has developed a National Electrification Plan in meeting the increased demand of electricity from 14,500 MW in 2015 to 58,000 MW by 2030. This initiative targeting $6 billion in investments from 2016 – 2030, looks into increasing power generation capacity of 4,414 MW in 2014 to 19,780 MW by 2030; increasing electricity consumption per capita of 164KWh in 2014 to 800KWh by 2030 and increasing household electrification connection capacity to 7.5 million, which will translates into 87% electrification rate nationwide by 2030.

The  4th Myanmar Green Energy Summit 2016 set out to provide an interactive platform for potential investors and key players of the industry from over 25 countries to receive up to date information on the new directions, investment policies and market potential of green energy in Myanmar. At the same time the event provided opportunities to discuss strategies and share insights to support the National Electrification Plan, improve policies and regulation around electricity and renewable energy, and develop a framework to plan out future electrification programs.
