Position: Renewable Energy Technology and Regulatory Expert

Revelle Group is shortlisted and preparing a tender for the project Support the Technical and Financial Sustainability of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Sectors’. We are currently looking for an expert for the position of Team Leader / Energy Expert.

The project aims to contribute to the management and the use of Egypt’s energy resources by improving operational efficiencies of concerned stakeholders and beneficiaries.  The project will include:

  • Reinforcing the institutional framework of the Energy Sector especially dealing with the role and functioning of NREA which implies strengthening the institutional and regulatory environment (where RES investments should be initiated), improving the financial capacity of institutions to accompany RES investments and defining and contributing to the separation of the role of NREA as planning entity and market player;
  • Contributing to the role of standards and measurements in the energy efficiency (including the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy) sector – which includes defining the governance regime of the accreditation and certification of the procedures to establish energy efficiency experts (energy manager and energy auditors) and, eventually, energy audits and clearly, identifying the role of the NREA in relation to the testing laboratory and training within the energy efficiency institutional framework;
  • Strengthening the institutional sustainability of the Energy System Model through the development of a modelling Unit and through capacity strengthening of modelling expertise;
  • Reinforcing awareness of the positive impacts and benefits of energy efficiency and also the use of renewable energy sources.

Qualifications and skills

  • University Master Degree in electrical engineering or related subject;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Knowledge of Arabic would be considered an advantage;

General professional experience

  • A minimum of 15 years professional experience in the Energy sector, preferably at least 8 years professional experience in power systems, preferably in the area of grid integration of distributed energy resources;
  • Experienced in working in the MENA region.

Specific professional experience

  • Proven experience in reliability assessment, power system dynamics (transient & small signal stability) & power Generating Units compliance monitoring;
  • Proven knowledge in the field of electrical engineering related to challenges of integration of renewable energies into the network (Wind Solar PV integration studies);
  • Proven experience with the simulation and analysis of power systems and the evaluation and refinement of technical standards that support the implementation of projects and promote a changeover to a sustainable energy supply system.
