Eurostat, as part of its work in providing technical assistance to the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECCA), organises annual seminars on topics of interest for senior management of the National Statistical Offices (NSIs). This year’s high-level seminar was organised by Revelle in Minsk from 3-5 October 2016.
Targeted to the top management of the NSI’s of the EECCA countries, the three-day seminar focused on the “Modernisation of official statistics.” A total of 45 participants attended the seminar from the EECCA countries as well as from international organisations such as UNECE, ETFA, UN ESCAP etc.
The role of the high-level seminars is to inform the senior management of the NSIs of the key issues and changes in the field of statistics especially at the international level, as well as the effects of these changes on the work of their institutes. They also provide an opportunity for the management of the NSIs to meet informally and to discuss areas of common interest, issues and practices.
Revelle was responsible of all the logistical organisation of the seminars as well as their technical content involving the drafting of the seminar proceedings. This is the third in a row high-level seminar organised by Revelle on behalf of Eurostat, with the previous seminars organised in Riga in June 2015 and Chisinau in September 2014.
