The overall objective of the assignment is to overall objective is to increase private renewable energy investment into Ukraine through identification and mitigation of barriers slowing down investment and through implementation by policy makers of recommendations arising from the study along with more tailored and effective support from donors and international financial institutions (IFI) in promoting greater private sector involvement. The activities to be undertakend include:
1) Assess the interest and needs of RES project developers and investors – both national and international – for investing in RES projects in Ukraine;
2) Provide a set of insights and prioritized recommendations for increasing private sector investment in Ukraine’s RES sector addressed to project developers, investors, project initiators in Ukraine and European Commission;
3) Increase awareness among Ukrainian policy and decision-makers on the need for private sector investments and on those practical support measures which can be helpful in attracting private investment.
4) Provide donors and IFIs with a more nuanced understanding and assessment of the situation so that ongoing and future donor/IFI assistance to promote private sector renewable energy investment can be more effectively tailored and with greater opportunity for success.
